She has competed in USDAA, ASCA and AKC, earning multiple championships in AKC along with competing several years at Nationals. She and Bailey placed in the top 25 in the 16” height division in 2013!
Leah has been an agility instructor since 2007, teaching classes from beginner level to advanced handling. She attends group classes, seminars and participates in numerous online classes to not only further her own skills, but to also assist her students in improving their training and helping them forge a lifelong bond with their dogs. She especially enjoys foundation training and shaping behaviors and tricks using positive reinforcement when the dogs are young. “It is amazing what you can shape a dog to do”, she says. Seeing the light bulb go on and challenging the dog to think about making the right choice is so rewarding. The skills that young dogs learn from these methods of training instill a foundation for teamwork, focus and drive that can last a lifetime.
Leah earned her CTDI (Certified Trick Dog Instructor) certification in September 2015. Her dogs have earned multiple trick dog titles and she is working towards her TDCH (trick dog champion) with one of her dogs. She is available to witness your dog tricks so you can earn your titles if this is something you wish to do.
